The Oshkosh Library Lions, Sawyer
and Harris, were created by Italian sculptor Gaetano Trentanove and were placed by the library in 1912. The lions are full-sized and are nearly mirror images of one another, the west lion having it's right leg extended, the east lion having it's left leg extended. The lions were cast in bronze and have an overall height of 60 inches. They are 112 inches long and 20 inches wide. "Sawyer" and "Harris" officially received their names in a contest in 1977. |
